As an experienced college counselor and former transfer student, I believe in the importance of finding the right college fit: academically, personally, and financially. At AB College Advising, I work with students and their families to calmly and confidently navigate the college search and application process in a way that showcases their strengths and best positions them for success.

My Unique Expertise:

• Former University of Virginia admissions reader: I read thousands of in-state, out-of-state, and transfer applications as a seasonal admissions reader. I understand what makes applications stand out.

• Higher education expert: I earned an M.Ed. in Higher Education from UVA and have worked for multiple universities in varying capacities, from student affairs to fundraising to admissions. I understand the “behind the scenes” institutional pressures and motivations impacting the admissions process.

• Essay specialist: Working with students on their essays is one of my favorite parts of the process. As an admissions reader, I learned what types of essays elevated a student’s entire application. I’ve also worked one-on-one with students as a Writing Coach, providing in-depth guidance on college and scholarship essays.

Originally from Alabama, I earned my B.A. and M.Ed. from the University of Virginia and have worked in the education sector for over 15 years. Most recently, I was a college admissions counselor and writing coach for the past four years. I currently live in Richmond, VA with my son Luke and our dog Phoebe. In my free time, I love reading, watching college football and basketball (Roll Tide and Go Hoos!), and listening to live music.
