Hi, I’m Anna!

As an experienced college counselor and former transfer student, I believe in the importance of finding the right college fit, but that can be an overwhelming process in today’s admissions landscape. At AB College Advising, I work with high schoolers and their families to calmly and confidently navigate the college search and application process in a way that showcases their strengths and best positions them for success.

My Unique Expertise:

• Former UVA Admissions Reader: Between 2020-2023 I read thousands of in-state, out-of-state, and transfer applications as a seasonal admissions reader. I understand what makes applications stand out.

• Higher Education Expert: I earned an MEd in Higher Education from UVA and have worked for multiple universities in varying capacities, from student affairs to fundraising to admissions. I understand the “behind the scenes” institutional pressures and motivations impacting the admissions process.

• Essay Specialist: Working with students on their essays is one of my favorite parts of the process. As a reader at UVA, I learned what types of essays elevated a student’s entire application. I also served as Writing Coach for another college counseling firm, providing in-depth guidance to students on their essays.

Originally from Alabama, I earned my BA and MEd from the University of Virginia and have worked in the education sector for over 15 years. Most recently, I worked as a Senior Counselor at another college advising firm. I currently live in Richmond, VA with my son Luke and our dog Phoebe. In my free time, I love reading, watching college football and basketball (Roll Tide and Go Hoos!), and spending time outdoors.
